Butterflies are a common
sight on Skopelos, particularly in Spring time, when wild flowers are in
abundance. Cream-spot Tiger (Arctia villica), Scare Swallowtail (Iphiclides podalirius), Two Tailed Pasha (Charaxes
jasius), Yellow Cleopatra (Gonepteryx cleopatra), Red Admiral (Vanessa
atalanta), White Admiral (Limenitis camilla), European Cabbage (Pieris
rapae), Grecian Copper (Lycaena ottomana) and Painted Lady are among the
various species of butterflies to be seen. You will often see butterflies
not only in the country side, but also on the
beaches and the gardens of the town. |
