Cream-spot Tiger (Arctia villica) Scare Swallowtail Butterfly (Iphiclides podalirius)

Butterflies are a common sight on Skopelos, particularly in Spring time, when wild flowers are in abundance. Cream-spot Tiger (Arctia villica), Scare Swallowtail (Iphiclides podalirius), Two Tailed Pasha (Charaxes jasius), Yellow Cleopatra (Gonepteryx cleopatra), Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta), White Admiral (Limenitis camilla), European Cabbage (Pieris rapae), Grecian Copper (Lycaena ottomana) and Painted Lady are among the various species of butterflies to be seen. You will often see butterflies not only in the country side, but also on the beaches and the gardens of the town.
